Kristof Bilsen, a Belgian filmmaker, first worked as a cinematographer, editor and director in contemporary theatre and dance. A love of the theatrical led him to explore human drama. He first studied filmmaking in Brussels and later at the prestigious National Film and Television School (UK) where he graduated with top marks doing his Masters in Documentary Direction.
Bilsen’s work has been awarded, amongst other things the Grand Prize Nanook /Jean Rouch in Paris. He is also co-founder of the Kitchen Sink Film-maker Collective in London. DocPoint is screening Bilsen’s new film Elephant’s Dream which peeks behind the politicians’ rhetorics about Kongo’s modernization through the lives and dreams of the government workers.
